Art is For Everyone

After many months of ideation, national art treasure, Martin Edge, and award-winning arts manager, mother and winner of the 2022 Creative Industries Demo Day, Pia Robinson will be co-designing a very special project between friends and colleagues.

Martin and Pia met in 2008 when they were both fresh faced and working at a small non-for-profit Arts Organisation, Artworkers Alliance. Since then, they have weaved in and out of each other lives, incidentally impacting each other’s careers, and developing a deep sense of trust and admiration.

This project through your support will enable a national reach and aspires to be an inclusive cultural experience for young people on the spectrum or with sensory processing sensitivities.

We are working with an incredible growing team as we navigate safe spaces for neurodiversity through culture, design, and accessible tourism.

We are delighted that our project, ‘Martin and friends’ is part of this year’s MATCH Lab program, which means that every dollar raised is matched by Creative Partnerships Australia up to $5k until 14 June 2022. This means that every dollar donated makes two!

Background

Martin and Pia are BIG dreamers wanting to make a difference in the world around us. Through the generous support of donors, will allow us to reach these dreams and share this experience with a wider reach beyond the gallery walls and into schools, homes and communities.

The first iteration of the exhibition ‘Martin and Friends’ will launch in Martin’s hometown at the Pine Rivers Art Gallery in early 2023, which will include a targeted diversified engagement program including working with local creatives, NDIS providers, publishing a children’s book, transforming Martin’s artwork for the first time into animation and activate through augmented reality outcomes. We are looking forward to seeing this project reach its full potential alongside our project partners, supporters, and team.

Technology is enabling

For the first time we are transforming Martin’s 2D painting practice into engaging and lively animations which will be activated through augmented reality (AR). Why? Because technology is enabling.

Through these innovative technologies, will actively engage busy minds and hands that can be accessed in the gallery, at schools, in hospitals, in communities or at home. This technology will be accessible in the physical exhibition, as well as accessible in the comfort of your own home – widening the reach and benefits beyond the physical spaces.

We are working with national experts on imbedding these technologies safely as part of the overall project.
