New businesses - including a multi-million-dollar entertainment venue – are moving to the area, showing that business confidence is high in Moreton Bay Region.
Stage two of the Undersea Putt & Play officially opens on Thursday 12 November at Bluewater Square in Redcliffe, bringing the two-year development to a close. The major entertainment precinct is the first of its kind for the region and demonstrates belief in the $1 billion dollar tourism industry that existed pre-COVID.
Centre owners, Elanors Investors Group, sees Redcliffe as an untapped tourism destination that is only going to grow.
“This is a one-off. It will be unique. Iconic,” says Jason Cravino, Leasing and Special Projects Manager for Elanors Investors Group. “It is a multimillion project which will not be replicated elsewhere.”
The new development at Bluewater Square went through an initial 10-month consultation process to design a facility that would complement the community, create jobs, boost tourism, support local businesses and provide a high-quality experience.
The venue includes additional function spaces purpose-built for parties and corporate functions, and will be looking to employ staff from the local area.
Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism CEO Shane Newcombe welcomes the new attraction to the region.
“This sort of entertainment and leisure experience is exactly what Redcliffe needs,” Mr Newcombe says.
“This entertainment precinct wins on so many levels; employing locals, an attractive experience for Moreton Bay Region residents, and a real drawcard for tourism.”
More businesses and organisations are calling Moreton Bay Region home, further proving the region’s economic position and strong projected growth as an attractive opportunity.
JESI – a management software company – has been scouting locations and increasingly likely to set up shop in Redcliffe. The global company is will also be employing, currently looking to add at least 20 staff for their new operations.
In another huge win for the region, Brisbane Roar Football Club recently announced they will be playing their upcoming 2020-21 home season fixture from Dolphin Stadium, Redcliffe. This move will bring tens of thousands of new visitors and economic boosts to the region each month.
“An organisation such as Brisbane Roar moving to the region demonstrates not only that we have world-class sporting infrastructure and facilities available, but that our region’s economy and residents are ready to support these initiatives,” Mr Newcombe says.
The growing confidence of businesses in the region’s economy is not by luck.
Recent economic announcements including major development approvals and completed projects, additional investments, and a strong COVID-19 response from Moreton Bay Regional Council have been critical to this outcome.
Confidence was further heightened recently with Council’s 2019-2020 Annual Report detailing a decade of surplus budget delivered despite the emergency costs associated with responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.
